Glenn Danzig Classic 1979 Era Harlock Reproduction Shirt
The Harlock: A Legend of the Underground
History of the Danzig Harlock Shirt & Walk Among Us Era
In the late 70s and early 80s, Glenn Danzig didn't just buy merch—he made it. Before the Misfits became a global phenomenon, Glenn hand-painted his own Captain Harlock shirt, a DIY punk aesthetic homage to the iconic 1978 space pirate manga, and became one of the most iconic Misfits fan merch items. He wore it everywhere, most famously on the cover of the 1982 classic Walk Among Us. Legend has it he lost the original hand-painted shirt to a crowd during a show in 1983, and it hasn't been seen since.
The Reproduction
Western Evil's Harlock shirt is a faithful reproduction of that specific DIY aesthetic. We’ve captured the raw, hand-screened feel of the original Captain Harlock skull and crossbones design that has been spotted on stage by modern icons like Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance.
Why You’ll Wear It:
•Whether you're looking for the perfect Misfits fan merch or a vintage punk reproduction that feels authentic, this shirt is built for the pit. The Captain Harlock skull and crossbones design is a staple for any Y'allternative wardrobe.
The Original Cut: We use a high-quality 3/4 length sleeve (just like Glenn’s) or a standard 100% pre-shrunk cotton tee for that authentic punk silhouette.
• Screened to Last: Unlike cheap digital prints, our high-density ink is meant to take a beating at a show and still look like a vintage find.
• Built for Every Outlaw: Available in sizes S through 3XL so everyone can join the Vintage punk reproduction legacy.
